Not all drones are created equal, and when you look at the more expensive models you will see more and more ‘intelligent’ modes of flight. There will be many posts on this, however, it is what it says. Intelligent.
Basically it means that it, the UAV, is assisting the flight by using electronic intelligence. In simple terms it keeps it from flying all over the place without human intervention. Why is this good, because it allows you to focus on the environment, safety and why you are flying for the images.
If we had to concentrate on both flying and taking pictures, one of the two or both, would be compromised. You may be looking at the great shot, and not see the tree. Or, trying to keep the UAV steady to get a clean shot.
Now, there are many forms of intelligent modes you will find, many of these will be discussed in other posts. The primary and important one is that which keeps the UAV steady and hovering. Being able to set a home point, and return to it is yet another. Monitoring your battery level and taking appropriate steps is another.
