DJI does it again.

Yesterday I came home only to find a fabulous rainbow in my back door. I grabbed the Mavic for a quick launch. What I got was “Remote Controller Unable to Connect”. DJI Go4 showed I was connected and said ready to fly. I tried using my Tablet. Save error. Rebooted everything, same error. At this point the fabulous rainbow shot was gone. So I went into TS mode and tried different cables, different ports and different software.
Then it just worked, to late now for the shot but I thought the problem fixed. That was until last night when I got home only minutes before the moon-rise and got the same error. Eventually, got it going again after many retries.
I do see that this is a problem of many, so I guess I will spend some time this morning, trying to communicate with DJI to find an answer.
If I do, I will post.
Really need to get this resolved as I can’t afford to have to waste 1/2 screwing around each time I want to launch. Also, need to check Spark out to see if it is doing the same.

Playing the Pano

The new Pano (Panoramic) intelligent mode found on most DJI drones. It is powerful imaging feature, and really can’t be any easier. The whole process is automated, from capturing all the necessary images to the stitching. You simply sit back and wait a minute or so. And what really makes the process that much more spectacular is that the AI takes care of lighting, white balance, angle and position. All you have to do is point and shoot. ….continue reading full post →

Reverse Orbit Mode

Orbit Mode is a very nice Intelligent mode that allows the drone to orbit a focus object. One simply sets a height and radius (orbit) of the done. The Drone then orbits the object, with focus toward the center or focal object. In reverse mode, you can simply rotate the drone (with sticks) 180 degrees to look away from the object. You can also adjust the radius, inward or outward.
This then allows you to capture the area around an object versus the object.

What was one of the Top Selling gifts this holiday season?

If you guessed drones, then you are right. Although the exact figures by the FAA have not come through, but well over 1 million.

Of the million or so sold, how many ……

  • were sold to individuals whom never had any instruction on how to fly?
  • of these new pilots are going to seek educating themselves with the vehicle and it’s safety?
  • know where it is even safe, let alone legal, to fly?

Those are some scary thoughts as you sit back on your porch and some kid down the way is flying over your house.
And to make things worse, the vast majority of them were of the less expensive models with no smarts.
Making them even harder to fly and thus more likely for an accident.

Here is a true story
