When you go to register your UAS with the FAA, you have two choices. Commercial or Personal. Although both registrations cost only $5 for 2 years it is important to differentiate the two.
The bottom line is this, and quite simple, if you are now, or EVER planning to accept any form of payment, whether monetarily or in trade, you need to register as commercial.
So, unless you plan never to accept anything in exchange for flying your done., then don’t register as a hobbyist. The result can be costly.
