Where can I fly?

Although the FAA has jurisdiction of all US Airspace, it has provided the means for state, city and local governments some latitude on governing of UAV flights.

Without such, the skies could theoretically be cluttered with drone. And that will only lead to injury, damage and an overload of compliants and issues. To best avoid such problems, the FAA allows for local regulations to be put into place. In simple terms the FAA states that UAV flight can be prohibited provided an area has been okayd.

So, based on proximity to airports and flight paths, the City of Tucson has designated an area within Christopher Columbus Park for UAV flights.

Flying within any other city park is therefore considered illegal and thus you can be charged. And given that most parks have people about, you could be charged for that as well. Be safe, fly safe.
